WASHINGTON DC

Dancers of Mambo and Salsa are being sought for the filming of a feature presentation: “La Epoca – The Lost Rhythms in Salsa,” an internationally-sponsored film on the intricate rhythms of Latin music and their dances from their origins to present day.

Producers are seeking seasoned dancers of Mambo, Salsa, and Cha-Cha-Cha. Seasoned performers of Ballroom Tango and Waltz are also being sought.

Filming will take place for public participation on April 4, Saturday, at the Chevy Chase Ballroom located at 5207 Wisconsin Ave NW in Washington DC 20015.

The event will be combined with an EXCLUSIVE “La Epoca – The Palladium Era” DVD Limited Release Party as well as a Birthday Celebration for a prominent disc jockey who caters to the Mambo and Salsa dance community in the Greater DC/Philadelphia area: Disc Jockey Jose Rodriguez. All night, he will be flanked by DJ Clave and DJ Neo – providing their world-class selection of Mambo and Salsa music! A Latin dance performance will feature FuzionCeativa.

Dancers are urged to email their names, photos and relevant contact information to Project Manager Lynne Anne Merrill at
Lynne.Merrill@LaEpocaFilm.com – however it is not required, but helpful.

This event is being sponsored in-part by
Mambo Influence Earl Rush of Stuck On Salsa www.StuckOnSalsa.com and The Mambo Scene
www.TheMamboScene.com in association with Mambodelphia www.myspace.com/mambodelphia and by www.djJoseRodriguez.com

This highly-endorsed film is the second of a 2-part film production, which carries the endorsement of the late
Mambo Rhythm Pioneer Israel “Cachao” Lopez, the late Mambo Dance Pioneer “Cuban Pete,” and Freddy Pagan of Buena Vista Social Club, among others. The film features examples of in-depth analysis of Afro-Cuban rhythms such as the mambo, son-montuno, guaguanco, guajira, guajira-son and the danzon rhythms as well as their respective dances. The film teaches the difference between dancing traditional Mambo versus Salsa, and between dancing “in clave” versus “o
n 2.”

“Part I” of the production, titled, “La Epoca – The Palladium Era,” is an internationally-attended film with showings and screenings currently being presented in cities such as Kiev, Prague, Barcelona, Istanbul, San Juan, New York, Philadelphia and Richmond. It is jammed-packed with original traditional Latin music, black-and-white footage of mambo legends from the Palladium-era, in New York City during the 1950’s as well as interviews with mambo legends such as Charlie Rodriguez, Alfonso “El Panameno,” the late Agustin Caraballoso, the late “Cuban Pete” and others.

Doors open at 8pm for a Personal Meet-and-Greet with the films’ producers where specific dance moves, steps and ideas will be presented to serious dancers for immediate consideration as cast members for the film. Doors close at 4am.
